Besides the campaigns you are using to promote your site in Facebook, Twitter, Blog Directories or other webpages, you should ensure that your site can also be found in search engine such as Google.
Since, it is a known fact that more people are using Google search (thus the term Googling was born), a blogger should grab this opportunity to receive traffic coming from search engines. It does not only adds traffic but it also gives you some credit that you made an SEO effective content. Of course, you must make your content in such a way that it will show in the first page of search result if not in the number 1 result. For your blog to be included in the search result, it must be first indexed by Google.
You can check if you are already indexed by:
1. Searching your website address in the Google search box.
You can do this inputting your website/blog URL address in the search box. This is the popular way.
2. Search for your website info.
This is done by inputting info:yourwebsiteURL.com. As for this blog, info:coloredchalks.blogspot.com and you will be given this result:
- Show Google's cache of coloredchalks.blogspot.com
- Find web pages that are similar to coloredchalks.blogspot.com
- Find web pages that link to coloredchalks.blogspot.com
- Find web pages from the site coloredchalks.blogspot.com
- Find web pages that contain the term "coloredchalks.blogspot.com"
What to do if you are not indexed?
Submit your website to Google.

Of course, if you can see your page in the google search results, that means that your page is already indexed.
DeleteHi Euan! Thanks for the useful post! I also wanted to suggest another way to check if a site is indexed, I use a program called Sitemap Checker. What I like about it is it doesn't just show you what's indexed but it also uses the sitemap to check for pages that are NOT indexed in Google. Have a look for yourself:
